Thoughts as we approach the Celebration of Resurrection

 THE CRUCIFIXION and RESURRECTION

 (Satan lost and mankind won)!

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave his only begotten Son, so that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life."

That same SON then gave up HIS life for us.  HE was innocent of any sin, but was accused and convicted by the religious men of HIS day.  HE took it upon HIMSELF to be the 'once and for all' sacrifice for the sin of all people.  By all appearance, it looked like Satan had won.

            HE was beaten, spit upon, mocked and whipped without saying a word...then nailed to a cross and lifted up between two common criminals.  All HE wanted to do was to finish the work of the plan of salvation.  HIS BLOOD was shed for our redemption.  HE asked forgiveness of HIS murderers and then died.  HE was taken down from the cross and laid in a cold, dark tomb.

            But the women who went to finish the burial anointing right after the Sabbath were in for a surprise!

            The large stone was rolled away and when they went in, JESUS was not there!  But two angels appeared saying...

Luke 24:5-6  "Why do you look for the living among the dead?  He is not here; he has risen!"

            Then they remembered what JESUS had said about being delivered into sinful hands, being crucified and on the third day being raised.  The power of GOD had given HIM new life!  HE is offering that new life to us.  HE is offering new life to anyone that will believe that HE is the CHRIST. It is through HIM that we find forgiveness of our sin and become one with HIM as HE is with the FATHER.

JOHN 11:25-26  "JESUS said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in Me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die."

 

PRAYER FOCUS: The Crucifixion and The Resurrection

            FATHER, thank you for YOUR great plan of salvation!  Satan thought he had won when Jesus died, but it was a short lived celebration for the enemy of our souls, when on that third day JESUS rose from the tomb.  Defeating Satan forever. 

            We celebrate new life in CHRIST and want others to share in this precious life-changing experience of new birth.  For in CHRIST, we too, defeat the enemy and death.  We have eternal life in HIM.  Help us to find others who need this wonderful news of eternal life in CHRIST.
